Cricket Manager is a sports simulation game that offers in-depth control of tactics, finances, and backroom management. Released for mobile devices, this MMO allows players to build a cricket franchise and compete against friends and fellow fans from around the world. The game was created completely full-cycle by the team at Program-Ace.
Cricket Manager is aimed at fans of cricket and sport simulation games.
The objective was to develop a completely in-house, full-cycle MMO sport simulation game. It was our goal for it to incorporate a slew of features in order to create an in-depth and engaging gaming experience. The principal challenge was to create an MMO that ran easily on mobile devices from both a technical and user perspective.
Our solution achieved our goal of creating a substantial and engaging sports simulation experience by focusing on providing both in-game and backroom functionalities. Players must choose positions for their players and strategize by analyzing their cricket-specific skills. Bowlers, for example, can learn various deliveries, such as doosras. In the backroom portion, players must manage transfers, wages, and training regimens for their players as well as build stadiums. The variety of play mimics the complexity of real-life cricket management while simplifying the more complicated processes into an appropriate gaming format.
In order to develop a fast-running application and a uniform experience for users stretched across the world, best practices for mobile applications were employed. This meant static and dynamic batching, texture atlasing, and optimal texture compression. With respect to the MMO aspect, all the computing and calculation is done on the servers and relevant information is sent to client devices.
