Overview
Program-Ace built a mobile AR app with Japanese food and culture themes, letting users add filters and effects like samurai, sushi, and animated characters to capture and share AR photos and videos, with face tracking handling the placement in real time.
The challenge
A face-filter app lives or dies on tracking quality. The app had to detect and follow faces accurately on a wide range of phones, place themed 3D effects convincingly, and stay light enough to capture and share video without lag.

Technology and approach
How we built it
Built in Unity with ARKit for AR and OpenCV for face detection and tracking, with C++ for the vision processing and Photoshop for the themed art, the app locks 3D effects to the user face in real time and keeps capture light enough that the resulting AR photos and videos share smoothly.
